Welcome Home!

Gabor came home on Friday, April 17 in the early afternoon.  He had the good fortune of arriving on a clear, warm, sunny day and enjoyed playing with his housemates Roggen, Cadence and Butley.  Granted, Roggen and Butley weren't quite as enthusiastic as Gabor, but these things take time.

Gabor had a rough night (so did Eric and I) adjusting to his crate.  Hours of whining, barking, screaming, whimpering, coughing and hiccuping with no end in sight.  With no rest, we rolled out of bed and started the day.  Gabor wasn't hungry yet for either wet or dry food which didn't impede his eliminating four times in 24 hours.  No doubt, he was well fed before leaving the breeder.  More poor kennel behavior followed through the morning, although the enthusiasm with which Gabor expressed his displeasure was waning.  By mid-afternoon, tuckered out, Gabor rested.  But good fortune was with us and Gabor's new puppy raising family came by to let the children play and wear the puppy out.

The early evening was better, less grumbling about the crate; we made it two or three hours without interruption.  Believe me, this is much improved over last night!  Eric decided his limit was reached at about 6:30 am and Gabor and I went outside.  Finally hungry, Gabor is offering "sit" and maybe understands that food will follow this behavior.  It took about half an hour with the last few minutes containing about 20 sits.  I'll take and post a short video of today's training later in the day.
